Last month we began a series on the immutable word of God. We stated that the word of God is immutable, which simply means, “Incapable of being changed.” It doesn’t matter how hard someone tries to change an immutable law, it cannot be done. The first immutable law was, “God will never stop loving us.” This law is eternally true because God proclaimed it, and He cannot lie. The second law states that we can have total peace in our lives. Listen to God’s promise regarding that immutable law: “You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.” Like the first law, this too is incapable of being changed. Yet, many Christians do not have peace in their lives. How can that be so, if God has promised peace? While it is true that you can’t change this law, you can override it by not participating. You can think negative, fearful or worrisome thoughts that will keep you from God’s intended peace. Consider the Apostle Paul’s advice to the Philippian believers: “Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.” What a great way to live! Who would want to settle for anything less? Imagine claiming this immutable truth everyday, in every situation. True, lasting peace can be a reality for you, if you will choose to accept it. God has promised it, is able to provide it, and wants you to have it. So, let’s allow God’s peace into our hearts, beginning right now. |
